Cookie Policy
This page explains what cookies are, how they may be used on Crop Profit Calculator, and how you can control them from your own browser. It is written in plain language, and it is deliberately careful to describe only what is actually in place.
The calculator itself sets no cookies. It performs its calculations inside your browser and does not need cookies to work, so blocking them will not stop you using the tool.
1.What Are Cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. It usually holds a short piece of information, such as a setting you chose or an identifier that lets a site recognise the same browser on a later visit.
Cookies cannot run programs, and they are not able to read files on your device or carry viruses. What they do is give a website a small amount of memory, which is otherwise something the web does not have. Websites use them for practical reasons: keeping a page working correctly across clicks, remembering a preference so you do not have to set it twice, or counting visits in order to understand which pages are useful.
You will also see the phrase “similar technologies”, which covers things like local storage in your browser. These work differently from cookies but serve comparable purposes, and this policy treats them the same way.
2.How We May Use Cookies
Where cookies are used on this website, it is for ordinary operational reasons rather than to build a picture of you as an individual. Possible purposes include:
- Essential website functionality. Keeping pages loading and displaying correctly, and supporting security and performance features.
- Remembering preferences. Holding a choice you have made so it persists between pages or visits.
- Improving website performance. Supporting caching and delivery so pages load quickly.
- Understanding general website usage. Seeing in aggregate which pages are visited and whether they work properly.
- Improving user experience. Using what we learn from the above to decide what to fix or add.
We do not use cookies to collect the figures you enter into the calculator, because those figures are never sent anywhere. Section 4 explains this in full.
3.Types of Cookies
Website cookies are usually grouped into the four categories below. Each card states whether that category applies to this website, so you are not left guessing.
Essential cookies
Necessary for the site to function. The software this website runs on, along with its security, caching and performance features, may set cookies of this kind. They are not used to track you, and the site cannot work reliably without them.
Preference cookies
Remember a choice you have made so it does not have to be set again. The calculator does not currently store any of your settings, so if preference cookies are present they come from the underlying website software rather than from the tool.
Analytics cookies
Help a site owner understand in aggregate how a website is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors arrive from, and whether pages load correctly. Where an analytics service is active on this website, it may set cookies of this kind under its own policy.
Advertising cookies
Used by advertising networks to select and measure the advertisements shown to you. If advertising is displayed on this website, the network delivering it may set cookies of this kind under its own policy. Advertising partners have no access to anything you enter into the calculator.
Editor note, delete before publishing: once analytics or advertising is actually installed, change that card’s badge from “May apply” to “In use” (cpk-state-yes), name the service in place of [ANALYTICS] or [AD-NETWORK] in section 5, and link to its own cookie policy. If you decide never to run advertising, either delete the advertising card and its line in section 5, or mark it “Not used” with cpk-state-no — saying so plainly is more transparent than removing it.
4.Calculator Data and Cookies
The Crop Profit Calculator performs every calculation directly in your own browser. The figures you enter are not transmitted to our servers, not written to a cookie, not saved in your browser’s storage, and not tracked in any way.
When you enter your farm size, expected yield, selling price and season costs, that information stays on your device for as long as the page is open. The arithmetic runs locally and the results are displayed straight back to you. Nothing about the calculation is uploaded, recorded, or associated with any cookie.
Because nothing is stored, your figures disappear when you close or reload the page. There is no saved history to return to, which is why the tool offers copy and print options if you want to keep a result. This also means no cookie on this site can be used to reconstruct what you calculated.
5.Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on a website are set by the site itself, and others are set by third-party services integrated into it. Third-party cookies are governed by that provider’s own policy rather than by ours, and we do not control how they operate.
Where such services are active on this website, they may include:
- An analytics service, [ANALYTICS], which may set cookies to measure site usage in aggregate.
- An advertising network, [AD-NETWORK], which may set cookies to select and measure advertisements, if advertising is displayed.
- Hosting, security and performance services, which may set essential cookies needed to serve the site safely and quickly.
We do not name a provider on this page unless it is genuinely in use. If you want to understand a particular provider’s practices in detail, we would encourage you to read its own cookie or privacy policy.
6.Managing Cookies
You are in control of cookies through your own browser settings, and you do not need our permission to change them. Most browsers let you:
- See which cookies are stored and delete them individually or all at once.
- Block cookies from all sites, or from specific sites only.
- Block third-party cookies while allowing those set by the site you are visiting.
- Clear cookies automatically each time you close the browser.
- Browse in a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when the window is closed.
These controls are usually found under a settings menu named Privacy, Security, or Site settings, depending on the browser. Your browser’s own help pages describe the exact steps for the version you are using, and they stay more current than any instructions we could publish here.
7.Disabling Cookies
Blocking or deleting cookies is a legitimate choice, and this website is built so that the choice costs you as little as possible.
The calculator will keep working normally with cookies disabled, because it does not use them. You can enter your figures, calculate, and copy or print your results exactly as usual.
That said, disabling cookies more broadly can affect other things. Essential cookies support the correct display, security and performance of the site, so blocking them may cause pages to load slowly or behave unexpectedly. Any preference you set may not be remembered between visits. These effects are not specific to this website, and you will notice similar behaviour across most sites you use.
8.Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this policy when the website changes, for example if an analytics or advertising service is added or removed, or if a new feature begins using cookies. When we do, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
Our intention is that this page describes what is actually running on the site rather than every possibility permitted in general. If a service is introduced, we will name it here rather than leaving it covered by general wording.
About this policy: this is general informational website policy text. It is intended to reflect the cookies and third-party services actually implemented on this website, and it is reviewed when those change. It is not legal advice, and if you have obligations specific to your own situation you should take advice on them.
